Week 1
Overview:
This week serves as a pre-assessment and introduction to story elements and themes for our epic. Students will receive the Final Project information this week, giving two weeks for completion.
Week 2
Overview:
This week, students are given context of the language and times Beowulf was written.
They are introduced to the graphic novel as it will be used alongside the text. And be part of the students’ summative assessment .
Students will begin the text towards the end of this week, as well as learn to analyze the text via graphic organizer.
Week 3
Overview:
This week students will finish the text and graphic organizer for Beowulf. We will review the text, the themes, and story elements. Students will take a test in a familiar format to the organizer, and graphic novel. Students will turn in the analysis section of the test and then share the graphic novel section in a Jigsaw activity. The students will finish the week presenting their final project.
